Texting Pictures

Mary Jo brought in donuts this morning! Unfortunately they were all chocolate. Chocolate isn't bad, I'm just not addicted like some I know.

Testing Texting

Testing... I just configured my blog so that I can post via text message. I doubt I'll do it much, but it is nice.

There are times that I don't have enough signal on my phone to access the internet, but I can still text.

Anyway, this is a test. 1...2...3... Testing...

Chuck

So I've posted a bit about this on Facebook, but nothing on my blog as of yet. I've recently (within the past few days) gotten hooked on the TV show Chuck. I had several friends tell me about this show, but I never developed that much interest...I never even tried watching it actually. But I'm glad that I changed my mind.

Yes, it is over the top at times, but it is fun, and funny. It reminds me of Alias in its crazy portrayal of espionage, but the humour makes it more believable or easier to digest. When the show is as funny as it is I don't care as much if credulity is strained.

So I've been watching several shows a day and I hope to have Season Two finished by Sunday so that I can watch the two hour premier of Season Three. It really won't be a hardship to lose some sleep to such a fun undertaking. Of course then the problem I have is that I have to wait a week for each new episode...sigh... I haven't been regularly watching any television this season, but this year I'm going to at least be watching Chuck and Lost. I doubt I'll have time for anything more (especially since my TV isn't capable of getting a signal), but those should be good enough.

I'm just not sure what I'll do Monday evening since that is the day I fly into California. Hmm...

Snow is Falling

Yep, snow is falling. It is a beautiful day and I had a decent drive in. The roads weren't really that bad and I kept my speed down on the highway.

Obviously it is a slow day at the Museum, but I'm more than happy to be able to grab snow shots. I've put up an album on the Museum's Facebook page as well as a blog entry (yes, my titles are very imaginative, ;-)) with some early shots. If I get home early enough I'll try to take some snowy shots of my place and my sister's house--or I'll see if I can get some tomorrow morning before I leave for work. The last forecast I saw didn't show the temperature coming above freezing until Monday, so this snow should still all be here when I leave for California.

As I said previously I am looking forward to packing for California--the only coat I'll take is a windbreaker/rain jacket. The warm weather will be nice, but the cold doesn't bother me that much, and I do really enjoy seeing beautiful snowfall like that which is coming down today.

I'm not sure what I intended the above shot to look like, but I think it turned out well. It clearly shows the grounds blanketed in white, yet in focus you see the buildup of snow on the railing. The angle isn't straight, but where would the fun in that be? ;-)

Snowfall?

I hope the predictions turn out to be accurate. Usually the local weather calls for much more than we actually get. The TV weathermen say 1-2 inches in the morning and several more in the afternoon. I'm not holding my breath, just slightly hopeful...

I was off today and I didn't visit the Creation Museum at all. I actually went grocery shopping with my sister and cooked a hamburger for lunch. I suppose I need to start packing at some point...

20....10?

It happens every year...January 1 rolls around and you forget what year it is when writing (or typing) the date. I'm not quite used to typing 2010.

It is a big change, though perhaps not as big as switching from 1999 to 2000. I still sometimes can't believe that it is already 2010. I remember a time when dates in the 2000s seemed so far off.

Now dates further in the 2000s are marching steadily closer and passing by with each year. I hope I don't screw up too spectacularly before I get used to 2009...er...2010. ;-)

California, Here I Come

I'll be heading back to California for a short visit in a week's time. I'm reminded of the song, California, Here I Come: "California, here I come right back where I started from..." I heard that quite often as the theme of the PBS show "California's Gold."

I'm going back to visit the Master's College and the Truth and Life Conference. I'll be staying with my sister Erin and I'm really looking forward to seeing her kids. I spent quite a bit of time with them when I was going to college and haven't seen them much in the five years since I moved to Kentucky.

However, there are many things that I need to wrap up at work before I can go. I'm working late tonight to get some stuff done, and the rest has to be done by the end of the week (along with packing) as I'll be working Thursday through Sunday and then leaving on Monday. The nice thing is that it will be easy to pack. I've barely worn a coat out here--usually only when the temperature (or wind chill) is below 10º and I know it won't be anywhere close to that in California.

There are quite a few friends that aren't in California any more, but a few that are still there (yes Mark, I want to hang out with you) that I'm looking forward to seeing. I'd also like to talk to some of my professors that I haven't seen in years. I got to know some of them rather well in the years that I was a TA for the History Department and yet I haven't really kept in touch.

Well, back to work for a while...
