Weather Update

Well the snow looks to have mostly passed us by. Cincinnati itself looks like it might get more, but I'm not sure if we'll see any here in northern Kentucky.

I need to get up very soon and get ready for the day. I came home yesterday to find that my landlord hadn't plowed any of the driveway. I know that it kept snowing all day, but even some plowing would have made a difference. I had to shovel just so I could get my car into the garage last night. I expect that I'll have to shovel some more this morning.

School has been cancelled, but I'm not sure if my nephews will be up and able to help with shoveling. I don't mind doing it, but it goes faster with more people working.

Some woman [Mary something] is adding local color to the NBC Olympics coverage by talking about polar bears. She just said this:

Closed?

For some reason the Petting Zoo was closed today. This is one of the shots I took in the Creation Museum Botanical Gardens during today's snowfall.

Comparison

The Creation Museum is open today, though we could close early. I determined to take pictures on the Botanical Gardens because I haven't made time to do it during any of the recent snow storms. Therefore I took my camera and waded through the drifting snow to grab photographs. I just put up a few on the Creation Museum blog along with pictures of those same areas from other seasons.

Long Drive

It took me a bit longer to make it in this morning.



The ramp from 75 to 275 was stopped for a bit.

I couldn't see lane lines most of the time, only ruts in the snow.



The gates are open.

White Death

People are panicking. We've had two snowfalls that haven't melted yet. We don't normally get this much accumulation that stays this long. The next batch is supposed to start around midnight. I heard one report saying 7-9 inches "by the end of the storm." Laurie's kids want the snow to be gone for some reason. I'm still enjoying it and looking forward to a bit more.

A New App

Answers in Genesis now has an app for the iPhone (or iPod or iPad).




It doesn't do much yet, but I hope it will continue to evolve, ;-).



Right now it is an RSS reader. You can view AiG blogs, news articles, products, and more in one place.

Passing

When you are passing a car on the highway do you look over at the driver? I noticed a while that I tend to look at the driver when I am passing or being passed. I have noticed that when I am looking over at the drivers many of them are looking back at me. Today I even saw a driver ahead of me look over as he was passing a car.

What about you? Do you look at cars when you pass or are passed?

The News from Lake Wobegon

Last night I found a podcast consisting of the News from Lake Wobegon segments from Garrison Keiler's (sp?) A Prairie Home Companion. They are great to listen to as I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole PHC program in years.

If you have an iPod or use iTunes and you've ever listened to PHC them look up this podcast. I'm listening to the Dec 12 broadcast now. It starts out with great memories from Christmases past. His voice and delivery are drolly (is that a word?) hilarious.

I've been listening to quite a few podcasts and audiobooks lately on my rides to and from work. Sometimes I wish my drive was longer, ;-).

Global Warming?

I've read it in several places that as of yesterday there was snow on the ground in all 50 states. Hawaii has high enough mountains that snow can be found there and a storm just dumped snow all over the Florida panhandle. I'm not entirely sure that it was independently verified, but I've read about someone trying to collect pictures from all of the states.

I know that global warming advocates will just say that it is an aberration or part of "climate change," but it is just one more piece of the puzzle. It isn't real science. It is politically, monetarily, and lies-driven pseudo-science. I just hope that more and more people will wake up to the truth and stop ridiculous legislation like cap and trade.
