Back to Work
Well I'm off to the museum again today, hmm...it doesn't seem like that long since I've been there. Oh wait, I was there yesterday, :-). I took two nephews, a neice, and one of their cousins through the Children's Museum and Monkey King yesterday. It was fun as I'd never been through that museum before.
I would post more but I'm running a bit late this morning (too many webcomics to read perhaps? ;) ).

Timing
Yesterday as I was coming home from work I turned off my CD changer (playing the self-titled CD by Kutless) and switched to Air1, which happened to be playing the same exact song!! I think that they were even around the same point in the song, though I'm not completely sure since I was just floored by the timing.
Oh, speaking of timing again I think that my CD drive has gone out, :(. At least I'm not able to burn CDs anymore--I had to return a spindle to Wal-Mart and even the new ones aren't working. *sigh* I called Fujitsu and the tech suggested a System Restore, but it didn't do any good. I'm going to insist tomorrow that if I'll be covered under the warranty (which expires in 7 days!) that I be given an RMA number so I can ship it in.
Ah, I can't sleep in tomorrow morning since I have to take the kids in and then my brother-in-law to the airport, but I'll live I think, ;-).

Um...stairs
Yeah, I, uh, fell down the stairs tonight. I was standing to the side to let my sister and nephew walk up and when I turned to start down again my foot must have come down wrong. The next thing I knew I was sliding down the stairs, bumping hard on each one and unable to grab anything to slow my descent. Yeah, it wasn't too much fun--I wouldn't recomend the experience.
Work today was slow--we did have 165 people, but that was mainly due to several school groups (mostly well behaved). I'm just glad we didn't do as bad as Monday (94)--our first day below 100, :(. Well I have to stay awake so that I can switch laundry loads, but at least I've got some webcomics I can read. :-) Of course I'm also back into the Deathstalker series (having checked all the volumes out from the library), but I'm mainly saving those for work.

National Treasure
Last night I watched National Treasure at the local dollar theater (the ticket cost a whopping $1.75! ;-) ). I'd really wanted to see this movie after Mark told me more about it. The first time I heard about it I was quite skeptical, however I heard from many people that it was a fun flick. Indeed it was, though at the start I told myself "suspend disbelief" several times. Really though except for all of the lucky breaks that the heroes had through the movie it was somewhat believable that this chain of events could have happened. Basically it wasn't so far out in left field that I couldn't enjoy the movie. :-) Oh, and there wasn't anything offensive in the movie, none of the stuff that I normally hate to see crop up for one scene in the midst of an otherwise good movie, or foul dialogue--there was none. All in all I'd really recomend this movie, it was and excellent two hours.
Oh, it was also fun to see actors I'd recently seen in other movies. Of course the antagonist lead was played by Sean Bean (Boromir in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings) and one of henchmen was a Scottish actor (or at least with the looks and accent of one) that I've seen several other places (apparently his name is Stewart Finlay-McLennan and he is from Australia--heck it is still more British than American so I wasn't that far off!). Also Jon Voight (Mr. Sir in Holes and in Mission Impossible) was in the movie, playing the father of Nicholas Cage's Benjamin Franklin Gates).

PS Here is a fascinating factoid courtesy of the Internet Movie Database:
"Although the exteriors of Independence Hall were shot on location, the interiors were done at the Independence Hall replica at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, California during December 2003."

Today is the Day
I have no idea what this movie is or is about so don't consider this a recommendation, ;-).
Today is April 12, 2005: the day Peretti's new book is released! :-) Therefore after lunch I'm heading down to the bookstore to pick up the book that I paid for a month ago. I've never pre-ordered anything before, but it worked as well as I could have thought. I remembered it a couple times, but I was distracted by life so I never really had time to dwell on it or be anxious. Oh, and I have a gift certificate that I can spend there. :-) I'm really not at all sure what I'll pick up, but I'm sure I can find something good.

Relaxing
Yes, that is what is so wonderful about a day off. :-) I didn't really get to sleep in as I had to take the kids into school, but that wasn't even bad. It is a wonderful day today, warm enough that the breezes feel good and not cold.

5/3
Yeah, I know it is an improper fraction, but it is a tad bit more. 'Tis the name of my new bank. A few weeks ago I tried to start the process to open a checking account on-line--but I recieved a letter saying that they couldn't open an account for me. The form letter said I could get a free credit report since it may have had something to do with the denial. I tried calling Transunion, but no luck and I didn't want to wait for a letter. Therefore I just went into 5/3 and showed them the letter. Much to my amazement they were able to start up my account right there. :-) Of course this means I'll now have to start working on closing my old account--but that won't be too much of a hassle.
There are only three local ATMs where I can deposit into my old account through the Co-Op system, and I found out that they are only accessible to Delta and Toyota employees. Grrr... They shouldn't be listed on the website as available. I'm going to try to get through to the Co-Op and tell them about the error.
Okay, I'm already up way too late on a work night--I'm going to read a few more webcomics and call it a night, er early morning ;-).

Not quite so fast
Today was a bit slow at work. We did have 367 people, but it did seem quite slow. We would have been well under 300 if not for a large school group that came in over the course of a couple hours in the morning.
Well there was something more that I wanted to blog about but I can't really remember what it was. Hmm, I guess in the meantime I can just talk about the television I've watched tonight. I'm currently watching Alias and prior to that I watched a new episode of Lost. I'm really getting to enjoy Lost more and more with each episode. I'll not spoil it for all you poor West Coasters ( ;-) ), but it was quite interesting, quite. :-)
That is all for now, I'm sorry it is so short, but hopefully I'll soon remember what I wanted to write about.

Nothing much
No, I'm not going crazy or anything, I just thought that this was a fun graphic. Really everything is going well. Today I subbed for a normal worker at the exhibit, so I didn't have to be in until later and I got to leave early, woo-hoo! :-) Oh, and my supervisor came in and told us about some job openings. She wants to fill them with people already working for her (i.e. the exhibit staff). They are only part time and can be in addition to the current positions. They are for evening positions when the museum stays open late for special events. I'm definately going to apply as soon as I can get my hands on an application. I'm not sure how many others will apply, so I'm just going to pray that God will work out what is best for me.
Nothing much else is really happening that I can think of. Though if something crazy does happen I'll be sure to post all about it here, ;-).

PS Remember that Space Exhibit I said I was hoping to work on? I finally found its website (duh!): www.spaceexhibit.com. Enjoy!

It still happens
Yeah, I have three things to talk about now instead of the two earlier--so you'll also get treated to three images! :-) I'll give priority to the first issue--I'd just typed up a wonderful, awesome (okay it has disappeared forever so I can say anything I want, right? :-D) blog entry when it was lost as I tried to post. *sigh* I never learn--I should copy it each time incase of error.
Okay, now for my automotive milestone, ;-). Two days ago I was driving home from Khol's with my sister when I looked down to see that the mileage was at 150000.2! I had been looking forward to seeing when it switched over from the 149000 range. *sigh* I know it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but this particular number change won't ever come again on this vehicle.
Don't worry, I've saved the best for last, :-). Near the end of the service Pastor Brad joked that he needed fifteen more minutes put on the clock (since he'd somewhat lost track of time). About nine minutes after that, as he was wrapping up the sermon (but still a few minutes away) the alarm system in the church went off. First bright lights pulsed, and then the alarms started sounding at regular intervals. It must be a new system (it is a fairly new building) as a recorded voice started instructing everyone to exit the building in an orderly and calm manner. The pastor speculated that someone had tripped the alarm, but nonetheless instructed everyone to leave (to be on the safe side), also saying that whoever pulled it should repent on the way out, ;-).

PS Hmm...it appears that my earlier post did indeed take, curious. But I think this version is better than the last so I'll let them both stand.
It happens
Well it was just two days ago that I hit 150,000 miles on my car, and I missed it by two tenths of a mile!! :'( *sigh* I was driving back from Khol's with my sister when I noticed that I was at 150000.2. I know that it doesn't really mean much, but it would have been cool to see.
And now for the news from church:
The sermon was going a bit late (at least Pastor Brad hadn't noticed for a while that it was later than he'd thought), but the pastor was wrapping up (talking about the deaths of the various apostles) when the fire alarm went off. Presumably somebody tripped the alarm, but just to be on the safe side everybody left the church. The lights and alarms went off every few seconds along with a recorded voice urging everybody to make it out in orderly fashion. I've certainly never seen this happen before, though my sister speculated it could have been a teacher eager to get rid of their unruly kids, ;-).

I rejoice with the daughters of Zion
My computer is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:-) :-) :-)
I'm making this post from my computer with its gleaming new screen, ah, I love a good warranty.
~Matt
PS Oh yeah, this Monday (when the other supervisor was in) the exhibit had 930 visitors--today we broke that record with 946!! :-)
Space
The museum will be hosting a space exhibit starting June 25th, and Monkey King's last day will be July 4th (my last day is the second). I talked to my supervisor yesterday and she said that if I'm interested I should go ahead and apply to work on the new exhibit, and perhaps (I'm really praying here) one of the Nicholas and Alexandra supervisors might not want to come back so there could be a supervisory position open for me to apply for! I'll try to find a link to the exhibit later as I'm not sure of the exact title right now. Anyway, I'm excited as this opportunity (if it comes about) would allow me to keep working at the museum in a supervisory capacity. I believe that this would improve my position there if I can try to obtain a permanent position, or if I try to find a job elsewhere. Anyway, I need to get going. I'm sorry for the jumbled nature of this post, but I'm a bit tired (everyone is still asleep on this first day of Spring Break).
