Embassy of Portugal

The Portuguese embassy was the next stop on our day after Luxembourg.  It was the first one where we got some decent swag.  We didn't realize that places were giving away more than just tourism materials.

As I recall correctly we ended up with some glasses and a shirt or two by the end of our stay in Portugal.

We took the items that we got back for the kids and they were thrilled by all of the stuff that they got to enjoy--and we didn't even have to buy any of them.  In fact I think we didn't end up buying any souvenirs for the kids while we were in the city.

There was another long line when we arrived at Portugal.

We had the opportunity to sign up for a trip to Portugal.  It was cool how much each county was using the opportunity to try to drum up interest in visiting.
More tourist advertising.

Groups of people were alternated between the right and left sides of the area--we we moved over to the right to wait for our turn to enter.

Another embassy plaque--this one was definitely more shiny than the other ones we saw earlier.
Once inside we got to enjoy some artwork while we were welcomed.

I noticed that the table had a sign indicating that all furniture was made in Portugal and gave you the information where you could buy your own copies at a showroom in Virginia.
We then got to watch a Visit Portugal video that did a great job of encouraging people to visit.  I found the same video on YouTube and have embedded it below.

After this we headed out back into a tent.

There were the above mentioned samples and also some tasty food.  I had never had these custard tarts before but they were pretty good.
We even posed for a fun tourism photo.

After Portugal we headed towards the EU delegation so that we could grab a bus to Germany.  You can read more about that next time.  But if you want to see more of Portugal you'll find a couple other photos in this album.
