Lake Lodge

Not too far from the Lake Hotel, on the shores of Lake Yellowstone, you'll find the Lake Lodge.  As the name suggests, it is a bit more rustic than the hotel.
The advent of the auto in the park in 1915 created a great influx of visitors. The need arose for an intermediate style of lodging between the luxury of the Lake Hotel and the rustic accommodations of the tent camps. In 1926, the Lake Lodge (also a Robert Reamer design) was completed, one of four lodges in the park. The park was no longer primarily accessible to only affluent "dudes" or hearty "sagebrushers." Democracy had come to Yellowstone.

The construction is log like many other Yellowstone structures that characterize the Parkitecture style.

I wouldn't have minded spending some time relaxing on this porch.  Whenever we return to Yellowstone we've definitely talked about staying in a couple more lodges just so we can experience them (though we did really enjoy Old Faithful Inn).
The view isn't too bad out those doors also.
I really enjoyed the light fixtures!

And how can you go wrong with a huge fireplace?

These exposed rafters really make a wooden building extra beautiful in my opinion.
