Another Red Flower

I was going to say I didn't know when this picture was taken, but that isn't true as I can check the tag.  According to the file it was created on June 28, 2009.  But, I can say that I don't remember taking this picture, or why I found it tonight in my main pictures folder (which normally only holds pictures I've used, edited, or will use or edit for work use...

Music, Food, and Friends

Tonight the Minnards (photographers at the Creation Museum) invited my over to their place (along with others from work) to enjoy some music.

Paul played the guitar.

Jen tickled the ivories.

And Buddy Davis played and sang!

I also grabbed a couple videos:

In this song (and others) I really enjoyed Buddy's harmonica:

For a minute we thought Marty might play, but he declined…

Deb made some great chili and cornbread. It was nice to eat a meal I hadn't cooked or had to buy.

Birthdays

March is a great month for birthdays.  My granddad's birthday was the second (and one my brothers).  My dad's birthday is at the end of the month.  My nephew Ryan's birthday was yesterday (also Chuck Norris' birthday--I can't believe he is 70 this year!) and a nephew and I share a birthday on Sunday!  I got to spend some time with this last nephew (Clayton) when I went out to California this January.  It was cool as I'd not seen him as much as his older siblings.  I think there may be some more March birthdays that I know about, but I'm forgetting them right now.  Oh wait, I do remember one...Mark Baker's birthday just rolled by a couple days ago...  All in all I think March is one of the best months to celebrate your birthday.  :-)

Zombies, Version 2

This version is a composite of two images that I further edited in my HDR app to highlight the flames (a candle is behind the building) and contrast. How does it compare?

I also tried taking a few other pics. I am using an old police station so I'm somewhat limited. I might rebuild the station to give me better photo possibilities.

Most of the zombies are cops, but one is a prisoner clambering out of his cell.

At least they kept their guns in hand.

I know it isn't original, but it was fun to tilt the jeep on it's side as the driver flees.

Zombie Patrol

I thought about making this scene once I saw a post about someone using their Toy Story soldiers as WWII troops. I switched heads and hands on these minifigs to communicate the terror as a patrol comes across zombies in a ruined police station.

Lost

I just lost an entire blog post. It apparently never actually posted… :-(

The gist of the entry was that I need to plan a spring camping trip with my nephews. Oh, and I found a cool picture of Africa's Victoria Falls:

I am Tired

I'm not ready to nod off this second, but it will be soon. I was at work for a while today and tomorrow will be another long day. I'm enjoying the challenge.

Testing

My blogging app just added a Facebook integration feature. I decided it would be interesting to add that and turn on the Twitter feed. But I needed a blog post to test these features, hence this rambling entry. I'll spare you any more at this point... ;-)

Lost in the Night

Last night I walked across the street to my sister's place. They were in the middle of Bible Study, but I sneaked through. I tried to get Chase up but he claimed he was too tired. I understand needing sleep, but too tired for Lost?

Unfortunately the guys were downstairs so I couldn't use the big screen. I was reduced to using the old TV in my sister's study, but it was better than nothing! I never got a digital converter for my TV and am too cheap to pay for cable, so I can't really complain.

It was a good episode. I'm enjoying getting answers this final season. I know the ending may not be awesome (endings can't be entirely mysterious and mystery has been a strong point of Lost), but I've enjoyed the ride and don't regret the investment of time.

Here is an old blog post I recently found:

I've been watching the show since Mark got me hooked in 2004…

He'll claim that he was framed…

What can I say about Chris? He is fun to be around…

Funny Dinosaur

This is another old picture from 2007.  I have no idea who put the safety glasses on this dinosaur, but it made for  a great shot.  I really should collect all of the fun shots like this that I have collected around the Creation Museum.  I have one early photo from the Creation Walk that shows one of the bears wearing a mask.

The old pictures that I've had up the past few days all came from a photo album I put together in December.  I went to a white elephant party and didn't know what to bring.  What I came up wasn't exactly a white elephant gift, but it was popular nonetheless.  I sifted through old pictures (the party was with people from work) and printed a couple dozen and put them in a small photo album.  I tried to pick photos with a variety of staff members and of various situations.

PS Here is another great dino pic.  This guy used to be near the dinosaur pictured above.

Patriotic Museum

I may have blogged this picture before (come to think of it I'm pretty sure I have)--but if I have, then just consider this a review, ;-).  I took this picture one day because I needed a patriotic picture of the Creation Museum for a blog post (I think it was about Memorial Day).  I think it turned out well, especially with the fold in the flag.

Pictures like this where the foreground contributes to the focus on the background are quite interesting to compose.  I should look for more opportunities to take shots like this...

PS I just had a "duh" moment when scheduling this post.  I couldn't understand why Blogger told me that 2/29 was an illegal date.  I just wanted it to be one day after my last scheduled post for 2/28...  I think I finally figured it out.  ;-)
