Many Partings and Homeward Bound

Today we read Many Partings and Homeward Bound. As soon as I read about Éomer and Gimli comparing Galadriel and Arwen the girls burst out laughing.

8YO:

6YO: “They’re having battle about who is more beautiful. Why are they having battle? They can just choose!”

Then a bit later when Théodan’s barrow was mentioned the six year old shrieked!

“Oh no! Was there a barrow wight?” Her older sister then reassured her that they were far from the Barrow Downs.

All three kids again burst out laughing at Butturbur’s flabbergasted reaction to discovering that Strider was now the king.
