Of the Sindar, Of the Sun and Moon and the Hiding of Valinor, and Of Men

Today in the Silmarillion we read Of the Sindar, Of the Sun and Moon and the Hiding of Valinor, and Of Men. Unfortunately I don’t have any pithy quotes today, but I asked the older two what they enjoyed.

The eight year old’s favorite part was learning about the coming of the Nauglim (dwarves) to Beleriand and building Menegroth because it was so peaceful.

The six year old’s favorite part was when Thingol and Melian retreated and created the realm of Doriath.

Today I heavily referenced the map of Beleriand to show the routes of the dwarves, Morgoth’s first attacks, and where Fëanor landed.
